Impulse Exciters

Are you studying a structure that is just a little too big to be tested on a shake table or in a lab?  Do you want to measure the modal properties of this structure? Do you have to perform the test in a limited time frame that would not allow an eccentric mass vibrator test?

Then consider the ANCO HEAVE snapback testing system, the ANCO IMPULSE testing system, or even measurement of ambient vibrations.  The HEAVE Quick Release Link is a device that uses "snapback testing" to excite and study the dynamics of structures.  It is designed to allow for tensioning of a cable, then suddenly releasing that tension or load, causing reverberation throughout the structure (as shown below).  There are four models available with load capacities varying from 2 to 16 tons, but as with all ANCO products, one can be custom designed to fit your needs.

The ANCO IMPULSE system uses a pneumatic-driven hammer impacting a floor mounted anvil to create an impulsive force between 300 and 10,000 N-m.  The pulse duration is adjusted using a programming material covering the anvil.  Varying the air pressure supply adjusts the pulse amplitude.
